Most instrument switch knobs have a small hole on the bottom into which you can push a small sharp tool and release the catch within the knob that holds it on to the shaft. Look on the bottom of the knob. Headlight switches are different sometimes and have a shaft release button on the switch itself (behind dasboard). Good luck, Todd
