In my opinion, the paint doesn't have to be exact for that year, make vehicle but not so out of place that it shows a lack of good judgement and taste which can really be distracting from the vehicle its self.Yes I know good judgement and taste are relative terms but I'm sure you get my meaning. These and older trucks look good painted 2-tone(body 1 color & Fenders-running boards a complimentry color).A driver/working/play truck should have a good durable paint job which can limit the range of colors used.
I had once thought of a southern scheme for my truck.Gray w/black fenders w/ the confederate bars&stars placed in a tasteful place(s) and maybe a gruffy looking ram wearing the squat civilwar hat painted on the door.Well it was just an idea !
Anyway just remember, you've got to please yourself first then consider how it will be viewed by others, that will be a portion of your satisfaction after its done. Post some pics when your done and if you want honest opinions, you'll surely get some.
