I'm not sure about your cans but in mine the vent tube was burned off when the flange was welded to the can at the factory. I stuck a piece of wire down through what i thought was the vent and it was not connected to anything. After a closer look you can see where the weld filled the original vent hole and blew the thin tube away inside the can creating a new hole above where the tube was supposed to connect. It was drfinitely not something that happened after the can left the factory. Maybe thats one of the reasons the cans leaked so badly. lol
