Well, you're mostly right. There was a special version of the 340 for T/A racing, but that's not what it was originally built for. But at any rate, the 340 is a wicked little small block for a car. Just because it fits in a truck doesn't mean it should be in a truck. Norm's right, the 340 is built to rev high for a lightweight car; you need bottom end power for a truck and the 340 just doesn't have it.
