The easiest tranny to mate to is the 727 or th400. For manual you can use an A-833 tranny, bellhousing, and clutch with some mods. The 23-spline truck version from a 75-87 Dodge 2wd truck has an overdrive. First gear is only 3.07, but should be pretty nice. Use pre-78 Poly 318 engine mounts for direct fitment. Check your clearances front/back side/side. The hemi is wide and may conflict with your stock steering box. Sanderson block hugger headers work great. Check your clearance with a starter mocked up, its gonna be tight! You can also gas axe the front crossmember and use a standard rotation 2wd Chevy Saginaw box that mounts to a new crossmember, giving you all the clearance you need and power steering. Legacy Classic Trucks and many others on the Early Hemi forums have all the parts. You could probably save some $$$ and go to a Hemi swap-meet this spring. -Winslow
