yes, very similar in size and weight

T4.236 and 4bt (238CID) around 800#s
T6.354 and 6bt (359CID) around 1100#s

Perkins Bore and Stroke 3.87 x 5.0
Cummins Bore and Stroke 4.02 x 4.72

I have owned and driven:
T4.236 and 4bt
T6.354 and 6BT 12V and 6BT 24V
6.354

I cannot compare the 6.354 NA to the Cummins 6BT, for lack of turbo on the 6.354

but can say that the early 12V 160 hp is similar in power to the T6.354 135 hp

I like the sound of the 6cyl Perkins better, and the fact that it fits so nicely in an early W300, and is somewhat of a factory offering. The 24V Cummins sounds better than both, and has a more instant power. A Perkins Phaser might be more of an equivalent to the 24V.

As for the 4cyl, again the Perkins T4.236 sounds cool, but the 4BT seems more robust, and better balanced.

I like them both, in different ways.
