The problem with pitting often comes when the new seals ride over the old pitted area because the adjustments have changed with the new brake shoes.
Also, this is the case when the brake pedal is pushed all the way to the floor when the system is being bled. It's probably best to only pump the pedal half-way to the floor.
We all like to save money, but this is one area where we often end up having to spend the money anyway.
