These stores are supposed to make a profit. People taking advantage of liberal return policies are causing the stores to become more restrictive on returns.

I saw people returning obsolete three year old rear projection T.V.'s to COSTCO for a full refund. Ridiculous.

Throwing a fit because the sales girl was not authorized to replace a broken tap? Also ridiculous. Taps break. And, it's not the fault of the manufacturer. Do you return drill bits when they dull?

I bet Sears is glad some people shop elsewhere. Some stores are refusing to deal with people who continually return things.

The Sears tool guarantee is probably one of the most abused. People buy old Sears' hand tools, damage them and then sell the new replacements at swap meets.
