A friendly acquaintance of mine is a long time appliance repairman. He does my home and office appliance work.
The same thing that we see in tools has been occurring for some time with appliances he tells me. Now he says they are almost all junk, with pretty exteriors. He went on to say that unless it is a minor problem, he tells his customers after his diagnosis that they are better off to get a new washer or drier, even though it hurts his business. He says that appliances are now made to be disposable, even the "good old brands".
