Their "old" warranty stated that if you were dissatisfied in ANY way they'd replace it. It really depends on who you get at the counter and I've learned that if you get one that is not helpful, go above their head or go to another store.

Sometimes they surprise me as I had a catspaw I just plain wore out. The hook where the nail head slides in was wore down to less than 3/8 of an inch. Don't know how many roofs I took off with that thing. They didn't make the same style anymore but the clerk told me to pick out one that I wanted.

I totally agree that a lot of times a companies warranty is just a ploy. Midas is probably the worst to me. When I was just out of high school I had a system with a "lifetime warranty" installed on my truck. In LESS than 2 years the pipes had rusted through. Went back and was quickly informed that ONLY the muffler had the lifetime warranty and I'd have to pay for any pipes or clamps that needed replaced. Labor would be charged as well. They got me and I made sure eveyone in the line behind new what their scam was. Several walked out.

That is why I have NO problem taking vehicles there for free brake inspections when I have a stuck drum I can't get off. Used it about 6 times and tell everyone to use this free service. When they tell you what you need say thanks and say you'll do it yourself. Somtimes you get to see red faces on the OTHER side of the counter. Nice change ;)
