Carb Return Spring

Looking at the pictures of the PW for sale in AZ. reminded me that the carb return spring on my truck is hooked up incorrectly. The spring on my truck is connected directly to the carb rather than to the throttle linkage.

I would like to return the spring to its correct location. The throttle linkage still has the little plate with a hole in it that one end of the spring connects to. But, I can't figure out where the other end of the spring is secured on the firewall.

I can see, in the photos, that the spring connects somewhere under the horizontal rod on the firewall. But, I can't see what is there to hold the spring.

Please elucidate me.
