Couple of things.

1)accelerator pump in the carb may not be working. Check for a vacuum leak with a vacuum gauge.
2) Check your timing as it sounds as if it is firing back through the carb. Vacuum test will help with this also.
3) Check to see if the plug wires are in the correct position on the distrib as a mispositioned plug wire could cause a pop back through the carb if the cylinder is firing at the incorrect time.
4) Check the fuel filters and for any debris in the fuel lines. Also check the fuel pump to see if it is putting out enough pressure.
5) If you bought a rebuild kit and used the new jets in it they could be the wrong size. The E7S1 carb with the governor uses larger jets than they provide in most rebuild kits. I just gave an extended description of this in the last forum. Check it out.
6) Also make sure that your exhaust manifold heat deflector is set to the winter position. This will help warm the carb.
7) Yep you need to check your float level. Just pop the top off the carb and you should be able to adjust it while it is in the truck.
