not to sidetrack your project, but if you could shoehorn a 5.9 cummins into your space, it might be worth investigating. the 5.9 cummins is available in many forms and is tunable for many applications. the pre computer ones need one electrical connection to run, making an install a plus. there are guys on the internet putting duramax engines in suburbans, pickups and hummers. some of those units had the 7.4 in them so that route should be available to you.
