ANY antique Texas military vehicle can use the hood number for registration. (no plate required)
Or any vintage car/vehicle can use a matched set of license plates as long as it is a matched set and the year of the vehicle; ie-- 1955 plates on your 1955 Chevy.
I used the hood numbers on my WWII jeep and the fender number on my WWII Harley.
