It actually pushed the seal out the back & then dumped all it's fluid. I stopped in Montana & pushed it back in & refilled it with ATF. It got me to Spokane but when you went to engage the OD...all hell sounded like it was breaking loose! :)
When I sent it to GV...they called me laughing :) :)
I'm pretty impressed with them...they supplied me with a brand new unit with a new adapter to adapt to the 2WD NV4500 & they charged me $800...which is less than half price of what they usually charge. I think it's fair to say that I was the one responsible for its demise :) :)
