I just pulled the gas tank down from my PW.
I spent quite a bit of time removing a shovel full of debris from the tank then cleaning with radiator cleaner, Gunk and a pressure washer.
Surprisingly, the interior looks pretty good from what I can see. I don't see any rust, just small black spots which look like they may come off with some more cleaning.
In researching gas tank cleaners and sealers, I ran across a couple suggestions that the tank just be put back into service without sealing it.
As the tank sit now, I'm sure it is clean enough to work.
Were the tanks galvanized or coated on the inside to prevent corrosion? Can I expect to get good service out of the tank without sealing it?
Anybody have any experience with this?
