The pintle hook is the truck end, the Lunette is the ring on the trailer.
But I did try a Wiki for 'pintle: A pintle is a pin or bolt, usually inserted into a gudgeon...
Gudgeon goes back to sail boat days, and probably in vehicular use, horse drawn wagons.
But it's getting late now, time to put my pasty white lunette to bed.
