For best protection, mix a bit of paint into the clear coat.

The problem with clear coats is that they have minimal stuff in them to protect the clear coat itself from UV. So adding so e of the color to it extends the life of the clear coat.

I used the optional hardener in my paint. Makes it kick off lots faster, so us home shop boys get less dirt stuck to it. And, I double-coated it: one coat on everything I was painting that day, by then it has kicked off hard enough to spray it again. No sanding between coats, it ain't that dry. But still 'wet' enough to form one thick layer. One gallon was plenty, at $250 per. plus hardener @ $70. PPG Deltron DCC
