For your bar top you might want to consider a marine grade teak oil finish. Daly's is one product and (I think) Sea Fin is another. You apply several coats, the first of which soak into the wood. Gradually it stops soaking in and begins to build up. My objection to Marine spar varnish or other similar finishes, including clear epoxies, for tables or bars is that they are so hard and become brittle, cracking easily. This lets moisture in and the wood starts moving, causing more cracking and peeling. The oil is flexible and will tolerate changing weather better. You DO have to re-coat frequently, but the finish wont' crack and peel. Jerry
