Okay, if it stayed on for a while, you probably don't have a short. Do try to keep the total drain below 80% of the fuse rating. Sometimes fuses are marginal and they'll eventually open even at the rated load, especially if they get hot due to a dirty or weak contact clip or being mounted in a hot location or something. If the problem was just that you accidentally hooked up the bright filament instead of the dim one, going back to the dim filament will cut your combined current draw by 7 amps, which should solve the problem right there.
