You can really strengthen the door by adding some tin . I did this on the inner structure at the bottom of the window opening . This ties both sides in , Also an extra bit of channel about 4 inches wide with 3/4 flanges at the bottom going from the lower hinge area to the other side of the door .
When doing this add the window glass and cranks to make sure you can get the glass in and out .
This will pay off later . Do not distort the inner structure , or your door will be hard to adjust .
