Hi
I worked at a Dodge dealership in the mid 1980s. At the tail end of the Iococa riegn.
The mindset of Mpoar at the time was you only stock parts for vehicles 5 years old or newer, as that was the federal law.
When i was there Mopar was having fire sales on all of its obsolete parts. A couple of the mechanics were buying up all the big block stuff they could afford for pennies on the dollar. The one exact item i remember was a Charger electric wiper motor. regulat price was 84.50 discontinued price was 4.17. no returns. Anything that did not sell in the allotted time for that item was scrapped. I can only imagine it got worse as Chrysler changed ownner a few times.
You are right about IHC, i have a freind working on a M5 halftrack, and the local IHC parts house can get all the engine parts and most of the accessories no problem.
Ernie
