But before metal prices went so high they didn't seem to mind if people were climbing on the pile. They had an employee who would examine every load coming in and he would pull anything he thought might be worth more than the scrap price. They would put that in the salvage yard. With metal prices so high now everything goes straight to the crusher or RR car. There is a lot of stuff still worth more than scrap value (like a '36 Chev) but they don't take the time to save it. I'm guessing when prices come back down the salvage yard will reappear. I think we are losing a lot of history this way.
