Back when I was in school in Georgia, one of the guys (who incidentally was from the Winston-Salem, NC area) liked the non-loose chewing tobacco. His favorite was called "Mammoth Cave", a twist form of it. It appeared to be a roll of cured/dried tobacco that was about 6 inches long and twisted on itself.
One of the girls in our class, who was the type to always try and copy and/or one-up the boys, said she wanted to try the "twist" one day. Before twenty minutes went by, she ran out of the room with a greenish complexion...toward the bathroom. That was the last time she tried any chewing tobacco!
