Easier to overhaul than an auto trans. Somewhere between a car and a standard tranny.

Lessee, I bought a Frod F250 box for the left hand guts,$15, and a Chrysler box, $40, for the right hand mount. Plus a rebuilt kit of O-rings, $30?. I needed a wooden dowel to keep balls in place as I screwed the worm shaft in.

The most problematic point is the keep track of the balls- a loose on in the wrong place is like a loose needle in a tranny- could cause a lock up.

Hmmm, just read this thread, somebody had a squashed ball? Might have been one that was in the wrong place, no way to crush one if it is in it's track.

I save my left overs, thinking I may built a recirculating ball nut cracker. Like the presses the use for swaging hose ends. But the box only has about 1 1/2" stroke.
