I have the same compressor as Bob, 7 1/2 HP 80 gal 2 stage. It keeps up but it does work it hard. When tip wears to over 5/16 it is very noticaable. I use silica sandblasting sand with a supplied air respirator. Silica isn't good on your lungs by the way.

Don't make the mistake of trying to use play sand from the big box stores. If it's damp at all your in for a LONG day as it with clog up, even with a pressure pot. When I "rough in" I reuse old sand that I filter through a screen. Final dust pass is with new out of the bag.

As Paul in NY will tell you, blasting is a pain. Even with the set up I have it is very slow and it sounds like you have a smaller compressor than me. If I wasn't so far out in the boonies I'd have it done and probably be money ahead. It just the transport that was a major factor for me.

One thing that will make it easier on you is to get as much paint off as you can PRIOR to blasting. Brite Strip discs that mount on a 4 1/2" angle grinder are by far the best thing I've used. I hit all the flat areas with that till it's basically clean. Then I can just very lih=ghtly blast on an angle with lower pressure to avoid panel warpage. You can ruin metal in a hurry if you haven't blasted before. If your dealing with heavy rust, your kinda stuck. just do it in multible oasses, not all at once.
