Before I had a multiplicty of grinders, I would swap a knotted wire wheel onto the shaft to clean parts. One day, swapping back to the grind stone, I couldn't find the red plastic bushings. So, I figure what the heck, it's the nut and the flanges that hold it in place. So I eyeball for centerness, and tighten it up. Face it with the the star wheel tru-y-er, and get to grinding. Lasted about a minute and a half before the wheel loosened up just enough, started banging around on the shaft, and split in half. One half never seen again, other half nailed me right in the ol' solar plexus. That learned me to keep track of my red parts.
