I've for sure seen them. But I always though that they were used as a precise center-er, never occurred to me that iw was a bearing.

Careful drying the wheel in the oven, Babbit has a low melting point. Think solder, not lead.

Whatever, in the future I'd recommend draining the trough when done for the day.

I wonder if something froze? Cold in your shop? Or did one side dry? Heated shop?

Try Traverse.com they are a good machinist supply. Shop for wheels, just to see if they are still made today?
