Haveing driven both it doesn't seem the slant six in stock form really doesn't have any more power than a 230 L6 with a modern cam grind and shaved head.. the 230 has a longer stroke so probably has more torque in a pinch. any straight six really doesn;t like high rpms flat head or not. the advantage to overhead valve better combustion so WAAAAY less carbon build up. what woudl have been cool is if Doge ran the straight six they developed for trucks in the late sixties that ended up being only in Australia nad is not a famous power plant. I have always wondered why they didn't build a slant 6 that was larger cubic inch.
