The General (WC-1)took me for a hell-ride on Wednesday. I fired him up and hooked him to the deuce and half trailer that I have and towed it to Hulk II ('54 FFPW)where it has a full jag of ear corn on board. I shoveled about ¼ of the load onto the trailer and then commenced to take The General, trailer and corn up to the long field. I got about ½ way up the farm-house hill and lost traction in the wet leaves & ground. I throwed the clutch in and grabbed the 4WD handle and promptly stalled engine. That trailer started draggin’ the whole kit and kaboodle backwards with me pumpin’ the hell out of the brake pedal and tryin’ to steer backwards at the same time!! The trailer jack-knifed at the bottom towards the old woodshed. That’s where everything came to an abrupt halt. After a few choice words and extractin’ genuine naugahyde (sp?) from a certain orifice, I re-started the engine. With the truck fer sure now in 4WD, I started pawin’ back up the farm house hill road, un-jack-knifed the heavy trailer and continued on my mission up the hill. The rig is now parked at Mom’s tree where we will bag up the corn for placement at strategic sites around the premises. No damage, btw.

That was ‘nuff excitement to cause maximum effort on the consumption of ice cold frothy adult beverages afterwards.
