A friend of mine had a job at a radio shop in Yakima in the 1970s installing 1000 watt linear CB amps on the logging trucks. SWR was terrible, and of course it was illegal, but the drivers wanted to talk to the guy in the next valley over, brute force was the only way to do it, and I don't supposed the FCC had a lot of inspectors up in the logging country. He said it was pretty interesting seeing all the places where sparks would jump on those trucks when you keyed it up. Much extra ground straps were needed. Don't know if the headlights dimmed. The big Kenworths probably came with big alternators.
