This morning someone stole quite a bunch of batteries that I had by the side of my house including 3 6TLs, and one of those big bus batteries that's about 2-1/2 feet long. First thing I did was call the scrap buyer in Smelterville, then reported it to the cops, then called the scrap dealers in Coeur d'Alene and Spokane. A few hours later I get a call from Smelterville and the woman says the guy is here wanting to sell your batteries, what do you want me to do? He knew what they were and specifically asked what they would pay for "mi;itary batteries". I said get the batteries unloaded, I'll pay you scrap for them, I'll call the cops immediately, try to hold him there after the batteries are unloaded.

I call the dispatcher, tell her the story and she says she'll dispatch the nearest deputy. Meanwhile the flunky at the scrap yard goes out and starts BSing with the guy. He notices the guy has "8 or 9" dogs and an "ugly white van", but doesn't unload the batteries and doesn't notice the license number or make and model of the van. The thief gets nervous and takes off. The deputy arrives and talks to the guy. End of story, end of batteries most likely.

The thief was going to get $3 apiece for my batteries. If he's that hard up, why didn't he just ask me for $20 towards his next dose of meth? I'd have give him $100 if it'd buy him a fatal dose. No I suppose I have to start locking everything up again. Wish they'd just legalize every kind of dope in the world and let the dopers all go kill themselves with it and leave the rest of us alone.
