Interesting. I have never rally had much problem putting a differential in a PW or WC. My trucks are on their tires when I do them. I use a floor jack to do the lifting and they usually side in without much problem. Only once did I have a problem and it took 15 min to get it in. That problem was due to me using a contact gasket glue and the edge of the gasket touched before things were lined up and it pulled the gasket loose and it was fun for a few minutes. That happened on the differential where about half of the studs backed out instead of the nut coming off.

It would be interesting to try a couple of long bolts to slide the differential on with. I have used that methods with transmissions for many years. The hard part of putting these differentials in is getting the differential through the slight cutout with is difficult if the differential is not lined up both in a rotational direction and tilt.
