Unloading before you come home is always smart. And pointing the gun down toward the ground while unloading is always even smarter. It still seems to me there is at least some negligence here.
Idaho requires the chamber to be empty when in a vehicle, which would help the guy with the shotgun hole in the floor. He should be glad his foot wasn't involved.
