Like you Terry, I clean and clean, then start the total degrease with Lacquer Thinner. When all is dry. I shoot PPG MP-170 Epoxy Primer. When that stuff cures, nothing touches it. I have tried to clean some errant MP-170 with Lacquer Thinner....does not touch it. Zip Strip will, but it takes a long time and many applications. Based on this, I feel confident, for my self, that PPG MP-170 Epoxy Primer is fine inside the axle housing.
