As Keith mentioned. I use Peel N Seal, a roofing membrane that is bonded to Aluminum on one side. The other side is Sticky ....amd I mean sticky. It comes in 8inch wide rolls. I buy mine from Lowes Home Centers. Its a great Mass Loaded sound barrier and will also block heat.
Three of my trucks have this, the Corvette also uses Peel N Seal along with a ceramic foil face insulation to further block heat.

Peel N Seal sells roughly for $15.00 for a 8inch wide by 25 foot roll. I have absolutely no smell from the Peel N Seal. Be sure you apply it to a clean, smooth surface. The company told me its guaranteed to stay bonded to 200 degrees. Over 200 degrees, I dont want to be in the truck LOL. It quiets my old iron so you can listen and enjoy CD's
