Any chance it's a 6 volt motor and you're running it on 12?

Both of my Tuckers came with stock Mopar heater units and neither had any kind of rheostat or hi/lo switch. They just have an on/off toggle. Mine had 6 volt motors and gauges although both cats had been converted to 12 volts. I built regulators for the gauge, and for the heaters I picked a dropping resistor such that the motor got 8 volts or so, which gave it a little more push without burning it out. I think the resistor value ended up being about 1 ohm, which is about the same as an ignition ballast resistor, so if you do have a 6 volt motor on a 12 volt system, you might try using an old ballast resistor to drop the voltage. Then check with a volt meter and see what the motor's actually getting.

Basically in a sno-cat you want all the heat you can get just to keep the windshield clear and even still it's barely enough. There's no point in even trying to heat the cab. The heat goes through the uninsulated aluminum skin like it wasn't even there. The only thing the skin does is keep the snow and most of the wind off of you.
