The Ignition circuit in 77 probably didn’t use a relay if you see nothing but the starter relay. This means all of the high current is routed directly thru the steering column ign. switch… not my personal favorite. When I installed the 77’ 360 in my Dakota I used the harness from a mid 80’s Chrysler 5th Ave. that had an under-hood ign. relay. This circuit design reduces the current going thru the column switch & bulk head thus reducing the chances of a dash fire. On your truck I realize that you already replaced the column electrical switch but I suspect the new one is bad. If you follow the forum much you’ll know how everyone loves & trust Chinese parts. So when you get some time unplug the Ign. 1 wire at the switch & check for 12+. If there is voltage at the post with the switch in the off position= switch is junk. If there is no voltage at the terminal then check the loose Ign 1 wire…if it’s live then it’s shorted to 12v+ somewhere. One final thought is if you have added any type of extra load (fog lights, winch, compressor etc.) to the Ign 1 circuit without the use of an accessory relay you will overload the switch circuit quickly. If you overload any contact type circuit it will a)burn to open circuit b)fuse the contacts closed= circuit always connected
