You have to isolate the the start & run circuits to determine which one is staying live. If you have the typical ignition module pictured below test for 12V+ at terminal #1 with the Ignition off. If there is power there & the engine keeps running check volatage at the coil+ terminal. 12-14 volts indicates the "ign 2 START wire is staying hot. 5-7 volts indicates the "Ign 1 "Run" is live. Try disconnecting the one you now suspect is staying hot, the engine will probably shut off. Most likely you have a sticking contact in the ignition relay that feeds the module & ballast resistor.
