There's a late 70's 1-tonner running around the Portland area with WDX/WM300 sheetmetal. And it wasn't just an axle swap either. They used the late model chassis.

The only flaw I saw was how the fenderwell splashguards fit, the mismatch in the frame poking out of the nose (they welded on extensions) and the height of the top of the bed seemed higher than the WDX/WM300 to me, compared to where it normally levels to on the original. I'm not sure, but the bed fenders might have been moved to adjust for the wheelbase.

But overall, it looked pretty good. Was not a hack job by any means. Had 440 badges on the hood as well.
