Hi Ken; I have to agree with your observation. The new automatics are NOT 727 type of trans. My experiences with 727 trans gave me the impression they were iron-clad and destruction-proof. The new R46E with overdrive is a piece of junk for a working truck, my next truck will use a 5-speed manual trans without OD. Word from some sources best to have 5.2 liter engine (318)
with the NV4500 in the new RAM if you want drive train reliability.BTW,my truck was transplanted with a rebuilt automatic and is back running. How long is anyone's guess. I, too,like to overmaintain my truck and have large size trans cooler,stick to MOPAR trans fluid and filter,etc.
