I got another question.
this 77w200/M880 i've only had for 5 days,
it came from an airforce base in Indiana orig. then ended up in Maine where i bought it. the guy i bought it from got it from his father in law who collects military crap.
the paper trail/title/odometer claims has 19,800 orig. miles, which i believe to be true. It never left the base. the owner i got it from used it as a wheel barrow for leaves, he didnt know if it was a 3/4 ton or 1/2.(still dont). heres where i come in. im somewhat mechnical but surly no master. I dont know much about these old pw's. I did know some old pw's were full time 4wd. this did not sound appealing to me so i asked the guy" can you go from 2wd to 4wd? he says yes.
mind you there are no hubs, no automatic locking looking any thing up front except a 8
lug rim with a big nut and a cotter pin where the hub should be. to make an already long story short. I bought the truck for $1500. no emissions no cat. 318 auto 4x4 with 20k
not bad i figure. last owner put 700 miles on in two years so it needs a good old fasion tune up, good gas, and to be run. he told me he had to put it in 4wd to get it from his back yard to the front yard.(snow) then i drove it away, got down the rode put it in hi and went home.question: the shifter for transfer case goes from top to bottom
LO-LOC
LO
N
HI
HI-LOC
i assume hi is 2hi although i still see front u joints turning on drivers side wheel i thought it may be stuck, i tried backing up and every combo of the transfercase and i always have 4wd. I feel as dumb as the guy who sold it to me. Is this pw full time 4x4?
and what is LO for? HI? LO-LOC? HI-LOC? I'm clueless?
