Check the current draw on the 6 v fan - its likely to be substantial.
I used one of those big old nichrome wire
air-cooled resistors from NAPA. Fooled
around with the mounting bolts to isolate it and run 1/2 for hi and full for low. Gets
pretty hot! But it cost around $6 iirc vs
$100 for a new motor..
