"Engineer" knows of no way to switch to a manual transmission? What is he, a "customer satisfaction engineer"?
You'll need a bellhousing, flywheel, transmission, clutch, clutch pedal and linkage. The rear drivetrain mount may be off the transmission-trasfer adapter, a crossmember. A LOT of parts and work! If you really want to do it it's by far best to find a truck like you want yours to be in a junkyard and buy all the applicable parts at once.
Additionally, you probably DON'T want a 4spd; you want a NV4500 5spd.
If you buy all the parts new it'll be in excess of $4000. Find your truck in a junkyard.
