For those of you that sent me emails about my problem of not getting my 440 running good thanks a bunch! Here's what I found out. So far its running good consistant for 2 days.
Symtom:
Would run great and then would stutter and sputter and backfire thru the carb. Changing day to day or trip to trip.
Did a carb rebuild,new coil, new cap/rotor new fuel filter and nothing.
Was not carb icing. Big block heat passage was fine.
Found the vacuum advance diaphram was shot. Would not advance and that was what was causing the backfire on aceleration.
Put new distributor in and backfire went away but still had the stutter and it was missing out.
Replaced the ballist resistor and everything went away and its running great. This was the 4 prong resistor! It was too hot to touch even after being shut off for 10 minutes. Was checking wires and touched it by accident!
Now its ready to pull my new WDX home in the spring!
