I use a 16.5 dia x 10" rim with 12.50 x 38 x 16.5
Swampers. I use a 8" backspacing with this combination which is a 2.375 distance from the outside of the rim face to the lug nut surface. These dimensions will put the edge
of the rim even with the fender line on the
front fenders, the sidewall will stick out
approx 1.5 but the tread is under the fender.
The rears could have 1.5" less backspace. I
make all my wheels the same though. Jim Murdock has this setup on his truck. If you
are running drum brakes 8" is the max dim to use because of brake drum clearance. I am in
process of making some wheels now for my '46,
so if you need more exact dimensions or clarification, you can E mail me.
