thanx everyone! i appreciate all the responses,i may just stay as is with the D60 rear end. it is the full floater,i havent checked yet,but i believe its an open diff :( the previous owner told me it has 4.10 gears. if it is open,by the time i spend $500 for a Detroit plus whatever installation costs......hmmm, Boyce's 14 bolt might not cost that much more, then another dilemna: change the front R&P to 4.56 or have boyce change the rear to 4.10.the truck has a lot of interesting Modifications,so it might be fun. the previous owner spent a pretty fair chunk of change over the 12 years he owned it,its got a custom dash with full autometer guages, custom fuse panels,a Ready-air belt driven air compressor and 2 1/2 gal air tank(will run air tools),wrecker style plug-in jumper cables, jacobs ignition, coil, plug wires,opto-timer. an extra set of 2 1/2 inch front springs, four extra rancho shocks,in bed tool box, etc, etc.
