Since the engineers must have had a good reason for the shackle in front setup on the flatfender PWs,how did they design the other body style PWs? If the shackles are to the rear,did the engineers expect them to be used more for offroad than the flatfenders? Or could they have just learned from the flatfenders? If so why did they not change the shackle position afterwards? Anybody have a clue? Maybe the benefit wasn't worth the trouble? Do any other make 4x4s have the shacle forward?If so have they changed since? Years ago I too noticed that other 4x4s did have a diff. setup and assumed it was better just by looking at it since the axle was always meeting whatever would cause the springs to move with the force pushing rearward which would seem to justify the shackle to the rear. WHO knows why the engineers put them to the front?I can only speculate but if someone can find the real facts to this puzzle,I for one would really like to know!
