There is a lot of beauty in the function of the Trachta joint. My experience of today in winter driving with my '99 Ram brings it home once again.

Take your open knuckle, cross & roller joint front axle (like the Dana 60) and turn it in a circle on a good tractive surface. Then do the same in your WM300 with the Trachta joints.

See which one you like better. I wish the late axles had constant velocity joints, but there is no space, it seems. The advantage of the open knuckle design is that we get a remarkably sharp turning radius. I like that. I don't like the other part...
