Yours is the "old-style" 1-ton civilian Power Wagon. The sheet metal is military-styled, but the truck was marketed mostly to the civilian market. Yours is the same basic truck that was built from 1946-1968. The appearance was nearly identical throughout all these years. The 230cid flathead 6 was used until the early 60's, when it was replaced with a larger flathead 6 cylinder. The truck also saw other changes along the way, such as synchronized transmission in the mid-1950's (previous ones were non-synchro), increased gross weight capacity, and 12-volt electrical system. I believe most other changes were of relatively minor significance.

The model designation changed almost from year-to-year, but the basic truck remained almost the same. You can get a full listing of the model designations by getting into the web site home page. Click on "Power Wagon Home" at the top of this forum, then get into "Year Model Detail." You can also get a more complete list of year-to-year changes, and production numbers. The site has a whole bunch of great information!

You're on your way to learning more about this, and that's a big part of the fun!

Enjoy!

Matt
